Lab 3 – Tissues & Histological Techniques

  1. Identify the tissues types from an image or slide (e.g., hyaline cartilage)
  2. Name the tissue types present in various organs (e.g., intervertebral discs are composed of fibrocartilage)
  3. Identify key structures of each tissue type (e.g., basement membrane, fibers) and cell specializations (e.g., microvilli in simple columnar cells of digestive tract)
  4. Explain how a tissue’s “form fits its function”
  5. Identify serous and mucous membranes and the name tissue types that compose them.
  6. Describe the major steps of preparing a histological sample
